Former Bellator champion felt 'disrespected' on MVP MMA card

Jason Jackson, a former Bellator champion, felt undervalued at Most Valuable Promotions' inaugural MMA card, held last weekend at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Jackson delivered an impressive performance in his welterweight clash against Jefferson Creighton, securing a knockout just 20 seconds into the bout. Despite the quick finish, Jackson believes he was not given adequate recognition going into or following the fight. The former champion voiced frustration at being relegated to the preliminary card when he had promoted the event to friends and family with the expectation that his fight would air on Netflix; instead, the prelims were made available for free on YouTube. Adding insult, Francis Ngannou earned the $100,000 "Performance of the Night" bonus for his first-round knockout over Philipe Lins—a decision Jackson felt may have been predetermined. The outcome highlights how fighter compensation and card placement can generate frustration, particularly for established competitors stepping into a new promotional venture.
