UFC Oklahoma City adds 2 marquee matchups, including past title challenger
UFC Oklahoma City is adding two significant matchups to its card. The promotion announced that Jared Cannonier, a former middleweight title challenger, will face rising contender Christian Leroy Duncan in a clash between ranked fighters. Additionally, fan favorite Kevin Holland will compete against prospect Jacobe Smith in a key welterweight bout.
Cannonier, ranked No. 14 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, has faced recent adversity at 42 years old. The veteran known as "Killa Gorilla" is 18-9 overall and has lost three of his past four fights, most recently falling to Michael "Venom" Page via unanimous decision at UFC 319 in August. Duncan, by contrast, represents a surging challenger. The 14-2 Englishman is on a four-fight winning streak and enjoyed a strong 2024, making him a legitimate threat in the middleweight picture. Holland, a welterweight staple known for his striking and engagement, will look to maintain his status against Smith, a rising prospect hoping to break into the division's upper tier. Both matchups pit experience against momentum and represent significant opportunities for the winners to claim positioning in their respective divisions.
