Sean Strickland scoffs at alleged Tyron Woodley threat over Din Thomas comments: ‘Weak ass b*tch’

UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has publicly called out former welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley after sharing what he claims is a private direct message exchange between them. The dispute centers on Strickland's criticism of coach and UFC commentator Din Thomas, whom Woodley has defended as a close friend.

Thomas drew widespread backlash for his conduct at UFC 330, where he announced his retirement from corner work immediately after his fighter Gillian Robertson lost a strawweight title bout to Mackenzie Dern. Many in the MMA community felt Thomas made the moment about himself rather than supporting Robertson. Thomas issued a public apology Monday, describing his behavior as "despicable."

Strickland was among those who criticized Thomas harshly on social media. According to Strickland's post, Woodley then contacted him via DM to defend his friend, warning him not to "cross that line." In the alleged exchange, Woodley told Strickland: "Watch your mouth talking about Din. You have no clue wtf you talking about. We laugh all the time when you have no filter, but you a habitual line crosser. I'm ride or die about him. Don't cross that line."

Strickland responded dismissively, telling Woodley he wouldn't do anything and making crude remarks about Thomas. The middleweight champion also posted a screenshot of Woodley's recent fight record—seven straight losses spanning MMA and boxing since 2019—and suggested the former champion's judgment has been affected. Woodley has not publicly responded to Strickland's claims on his social media, though he did share Thomas' apology on Instagram Stories.

The two won't face each other competitively anytime soon. Woodley is preparing for a wrestling match against UFC welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley at RAF 12 in Cleveland on Saturday, marking his debut with the promotion.
