Michael Page calls UFC exit ‘disrespectful’ After 5-1 run

Michael Page believes the UFC mishandled his exit from the promotion after his contract expired, denying him the respect afforded to most fighters despite a strong finishing stretch in the organization.

Page (26–3) finished his UFC tenure with a fifth win in six fights—a unanimous decision over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris. Despite that success and a four-fight winning streak, UFC CEO Dana White declined to renew his contract. The fighter was notably barred from conducting a post-fight Octagon interview, dropped from official rankings, and released without negotiation.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Page expressed frustration at the lack of dialogue. "That's the premise of this game—success should breed more opportunities," he said, noting he expected contract talks even if terms were reduced. "I found that quite disrespectful, to be fair." Page pointed out that fighters with far worse performances routinely receive Octagon microphone time, yet he was denied it twice during his UFC run.

The 26-year-old arrived in the UFC from Bellator MMA, where he built a reputation for highlight-reel knockouts. However, his signature striking style—flashy and distance-based—drew criticism in the UFC for point-fighting and lack of finishes. Now released after his contract expired, Page questions why the promotion could not extend basic courtesy if they had already decided not to re-sign him.
