Sean O’Malley reveals uncertainties about UFC White House timing, pacing
Sean O'Malley has revealed significant logistical uncertainties surrounding UFC White House: Freedom 250, scheduled for June 14 at the White House South Lawn as part of the celebration of America's 250th anniversary and President Donald J. Trump's 80th birthday. The historic outdoor event will feature limited military attendance only, but planning remains fluid.
O'Malley (19-3) is slated to face Aiemann Zahabi (14-2) in a bantamweight bout on the card, which will be headlined by an interim heavyweight title clash between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane. Speaking on the Full Send podcast, O'Malley disclosed that the cage setup remains uncertain—it may not be erected until fight day or the day before. Weigh-ins are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m., two hours later than the standard UFC protocol.
More troublingly, no official fight start time has been set. "The main card starts at 5, 6, 7, we don't know any of that," O'Malley said. The entire card date itself could shift depending on weather conditions, he added. A Thursday rehearsal and walkthrough at the White House will be the only pre-fight presence for competing fighters before fight day. O'Malley noted that outdoor factors such as insects also pose unpredictable challenges. The unusual timeline and logistical uncertainties underscore the unprecedented nature of staging a major UFC event at the nation's most iconic residence.
