Topuria, who lost his UFC lightweight title to Gaethje at UFC White House in June, released a statement this week claiming the champion had used loaded gloves during their fight. Gaethje knocked out Topuria in the fifth round, handing the Georgian fighter his first professional loss and leaving him with facial fractures that sidelined him from competition.

When asked to respond to Topuria's allegation, Gaethje was dismissive. He told Joy Of Everything that he's "just enjoying being the champ" and called the accusation "a lame excuse." The lightweight champion noted that he's fought everyone directly and that his striking speaks for itself. He also pointed out that Topuria had never raised concerns about the gloves until this week, suggesting the timing was calculated to generate buzz for a rematch rather than a genuine grievance.

"That's not the way to do it," Gaethje said, indicating he believed Topuria should pursue a rematch through more legitimate means. Despite his criticism of Topuria's approach, Gaethje expressed openness to a second fight if the UFC books it. "I just beat the shit out of him, of course, I would," he said, noting his next title defense is expected in early 2027.
