Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry, Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson announced for UFC 330

The UFC has announced two title fights for UFC 330 on August 15 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Islam Makhachev will make his first welterweight title defense against Ian Machado Garry in the main event, while strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern defends her belt against Gillian Robertson in the co-main event.
Makhachev (28-1) claimed the welterweight crown with a dominant decision victory over Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322. The dominant fighter previously held the UFC lightweight title, where he successfully defended it four consecutive times—a record—before vacating the strap and moving up in weight. Since his sole loss in 2015, Makhachev has recorded 16 consecutive wins.
Garry (17-1) has been vocal about his desire to face Makhachev and has now gotten his wish. Nicknamed "The Future," Garry started his career 15-0 but suffered a setback via decision against Shavkat Rakhmonov. He has since rebounded with back-to-back wins over former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates.
Dern (16-5) earned her title opportunity after former champion Zhang Weili vacated the strawweight throne to pursue a matchup with flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. Dern defeated Virna Jandiroba at UFC 321 in October to claim the vacant championship. She will now face Robertson (17-8), a Canadian former flyweight who transitioned to strawweight and is currently riding a five-fight winning streak. Robertson most recently outpointed former title challenger Amanda Lemos in March.
