Daniel Cormier responds to hacked Twitter account controversy: ‘I would never do something like that’

Daniel Cormier has firmly denied responsibility for a controversial tweet posted from his account on Sunday, insisting that his Twitter was hacked. The post, which has since been deleted, allegedly contained screenshots of a direct message exchange with Eric Trump in which the President's son purportedly asked Cormier about fixed fights at an upcoming UFC White House event. Both Cormier and Trump have denied the interaction ever occurred.
Addressing the situation on his YouTube channel Wednesday, Cormier explained that he was unaware of the tweet until UFC social media staff informed him at the event around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. He spent the next two and a half days working with Twitter to regain control of his account after being instructed to change his password during the broadcast. "I would never do something like that," Cormier said, emphasizing that engaging in such a conversation and then publicly posting about it would be illogical, particularly hours before one of his biggest professional moments.
Cormier outlined several reasons why the claim itself was implausible. He noted that he and Trump do not follow each other on social media, making direct messages impossible without mutual follows. He also questioned why he would risk his career, sponsorships, and family by attacking the sitting President's family while being a guest at the White House. "It doesn't make sense," he repeated. "I don't think he's stupid enough to do that. I don't think anybody would be dumb enough to do that to somebody they just don't know."
Despite Cormier's explanations, the incident has created real consequences. He reported increased contact from sponsors concerned about the controversy, and comments on his response video suggest many remain skeptical of his account. While the UFC has not taken action against him, the fallout demonstrates how quickly unverified claims can damage a fighter's reputation and business relationships, regardless of their truth.
