Conor McGregor reveals plans for remainder of current UFC contract
Conor McGregor has outlined his immediate future with the UFC, revealing he has two fights remaining on his current contract with tentative dates in place for both bouts. The former two-division champion is scheduled to make his long-awaited return against Max Holloway in a welterweight clash at UFC 329 on July 11, marking his first Octagon appearance since July 2021.
During an appearance on "The Ariel Helwani Show," McGregor discussed the financial complexities of his return. His previous contract included points based on the UFC's legacy pay-per-view model, but the sport's new media rights agreement with Paramount+ has shifted numbered UFC events to subscription-based streaming. This restructuring required renegotiation of McGregor's financial terms.
While McGregor expressed satisfaction with the new deal, he acknowledged it represents a compromise rather than his full market value. "We met in the middle. We got a juicy one," McGregor stated. "Was it what my worth is? Probably not. Was it what they wanted to offer? Definitely not. We met in the middle. I'm a fair operator."
McGregor indicated his preference to remain with the UFC beyond his current contract, though he expressed frustration about potential layoffs between his final two scheduled bouts. The Irishman signaled openness to further negotiations once his existing deal concludes, expressing hope for enhanced compensation in any future agreement.
